SUMMER CAMP 2017

Register your kids for our Summer Time Technology Program for a journey into creativity and discovery. We welcome kids ages 5 -13 for all of our Camps. Technology & STEM activities from 9am-4pm daily for regular camp. Summer Camp Registration and Boot Camp Registration

Session 1: June 2-4 ~ Robotics and Coding 3-Day Boot Camp

The Kids Tech Boot Camp is a 3 day program launched to educate the youth in Atlanta on web design, video game design, and robotics. Some of the material that will be covered will be educating the students on what HTML tags are, how to style your website using different colors and fonts, and how to add content to your website such as paragraphs, links, images, and Youtube videos. In addition to this, the students will get an introduction to Java in which they will learn functionality, animation, and video game design. The Robotics session will cover building and coding the LEGO Mindstorms EV3.

  • Friday, June 2nd 7:00 pm- 9:00 pm (Web Design)
  • Saturday, June 3rd 10:00 am – 1:00 pm (Video Game Design)
  • Sunday, June 4th 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm (Robotics)

Session 2: June 19-23 ~ Music Production, Film, & Photography REGISTRATION CLOSED

Kids will enjoy using music, video, and photography to bring their creative expressions to life during this camp. The music session will focus on music production using the audio editing tools, equipment, and software of professional music producers. We will have guest producers in the industry to provide a real world experience on how beats are created and music is mixed. The film and photography sessions will operate hand in hand for capturing images and video footage; The kids will learn how to operate the camera and understand terminology. The film production session will focus on pre-production (developing a storyline using a storyboard), production (filming and directing), and post-production (editing) phases. We will use Pinnacle Studio 16 for the video editing, as well as look into other common mobile video editing software. The photography session will focus on capturing images and photo editing using Adobe Photoshop. The final project will consist of a compilation of the student’s work as a short film or PSA that will include the music and photography.

Session 3: July 10-14 ~ Robotics and Coding (Lego Mindstorm EV3) REGISTER

For this camp, kids will use their creativity to develop the skills of an Engineer of Robots. They will design, build, and program the LEGO Mindstorms EV3. The students will learn the basic functions of the robot and program basic movements. With progress, they will work in teams to complete more challenging activities, which will include programming the 4 sensors (ultrasonic, gyro, touch, and color), allowing the robot to respond to different variables in its setting. Students will learn problem solving and critical thinking skills through trial and error experimentation and testing their programming. The final project will consist of the students programming the robot to use 3 of the 4 sensors in an autonomous setting.

Session 4: July 17-21 ~ Game Design and Web Design REGISTER

The basis of this camp is Coding! Kids love to code because they love to use their inner techie to express and create. The Game Design session will focus on building programming concepts and skills using a visual programming platform. The game design session will allow kids to understand the objectives for all programming which includes creating variables, using if-then and if-else statements, terminology, and other commands. The final project will consist of a unique game design that includes multiple characters and scenes. The Web Design session will focus on the programming language HTML. Kids will use many of the concepts learned during the games design session and build upon those skills as they experience authentic coding. The learning points include tags, styling, links, adding video and photos, terminology, and more. The final project will consist of a personal website for each student in which they have designed and programmed from the ground up.

Our weekly classes will resume August 2017. The schedule will be posted in July.

Robotics – Explore robots using LEGO Mindstorms EV3, and how they are useful in our world. Kids will work in teams to build and program the robots do perform challenging tasks.

Web Design – Kids are Coding! They will write in the language of computers with fun, approachable, easy to learn programming projects. This course explores HTML, which is used for building websites. Kids will enjoy their creation.

Game Design – Kids will use their creativity to develop a concept for a game and learn to make it come to life using a visual coding platform. They will be able to collaborate and use creative thinking skills to improve their games.

Film and Photography – Film and photography operates hand in hand. The kids will collaborate to develop a storyline, and begin to understand production processes, imagery, and editing.
